Calculate Your CBSE Percentage
How to Use the Percentage Calculator
Finding your CBSE board percentage is now easier than ever:
- Enter Your Marks: For each subject, enter the marks you obtained and the maximum marks for that paper (e.g., 80 for theory, 100 for others).
- Use "Best of 5" (Optional): If you are a Class 10 student, check the "Calculate using Best 5 Subjects" box. This will automatically use your top five scores for the calculation.
- Get Your Percentage: Your final percentage will be calculated and displayed instantly in the result box.
How is CBSE Percentage Calculated?
The calculation for your final percentage is straightforward. It is the sum of the marks obtained in your subjects, divided by the sum of the maximum marks for those subjects, multiplied by 100.
Percentage = (Total Marks Obtained / Total Maximum Marks) × 100
The "Best of Five" Rule for Class 10
For CBSE Class 10, the percentage is often calculated based on the "Best of Five" rule to accommodate students with different subject combinations. The rule typically includes:
- Two Languages: Usually English and Hindi/Sanskrit or another regional language.
- Three Main Subjects: Science, Mathematics, and Social Science are mandatory for the calculation.
- If a student scores higher in their 6th (additional) subject than in one of the main subjects, the marks of the main subject are replaced by the additional subject for the calculation. Our tool automates this by simply picking your top 5 scores.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Does this calculator work for both Class 10 and Class 12?
Answer: Yes. For Class 12, simply enter the marks for your main subjects (usually 5) and leave the "Best of 5" box unchecked. For Class 10, enter all your subjects and check the "Best of 5" box to get your percentage based on your top five scores.
Q2: My paper was for 80 marks but the total is 100. What should I enter?
Answer: You should enter the marks exactly as they are on your marksheet. For a subject with theory and practicals, enter the combined final marks. For example, if you scored 70 in theory (out of 80) and 20 in practicals (out of 20), you would enter 90 in "Marks Got" and 100 in "Out of".
Q3: Is this an official CBSE calculator?
Answer: No, this is an independent tool designed to provide quick and accurate calculations based on the standard percentage formula. While the results are mathematically correct, they are for your convenience and reference. Always refer to your official marksheet provided by CBSE for final scores.
